Hello,

I am attempting to get my Sitefinity 10 project to run on Server Core 2016 with IIS 10, but I am receiving a 500.19 HTTP error when connecting. I have tried most of the suggestions I found looking around Google but so far nothing has helped. The Sitefinity project is using .Net 4.5.1 but I have also tried 4.6 and 4.7 with no luck.

I would like to migrate my Wind2k8R2 IIS 7.5 farms to Win2016 core IIS10. Most of my sites are highly customized. Most of them use .net v 4, some older sites use .net v 2. Few sites use PHP for admin module. Some sites are available from the internet. I understand that sites most likely will not work as is and some redevelopment will be needed.

I was thinking about building 3 farms, 2 servers per farm, but only one of these servers will have full Windows 2016 and IIS management console, which should help to manage other server.

I did not find any information about limitation which I can face on IIS 10 if I use Win2016 core in compare with IIS 10 installed on Win2016 with user interface.

Could someone tell me if there are any limitations with IIS 10 on WIn2016 core which could affect such migration?

Hello, I believe Erlang SSL and Microsoft IIS have had some incompatibilities for some time (IIRC, since Erlang 18.3.3). The cause is described in this snippet from the Erlang Mailing List:

There are some TLS servers on the internet (Microsoft IIS) that have a
very strict reading of the tls1.2 rfc (rfc5246 -https://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc5246) and if they have a certificate
which is incompatible with the default signature_algs then they will
kill the connection. Now people are starting to roll out SHA-256 bit
certs but SHA-256 certs are not compatible with the default
signature_algs. When we try to connect to these servers with tls1.2
the server will close the connection after the client hello.

This has caused us and other Erlang users some difficulties when trying to send HTTPS requests to application's running on Microsoft IIS. The best solution we've found so far is to explicitly set the TLS version as being 1.2. However, this is not optimal for our needs since we've got no way of knowing before hand if the server we're talking to supports TLS 1.2 and we must support the widest array of servers possible. 

Are there any recommendations on what approach we should have to achieve the same compatibility when dealing with *possible* Microsoft IIS servers?

Hi, all. I can't end processes made by a virus called winvmx.exe, and I can't download a spyware removal tool named SpyHunter. I don't understand as to why this "declaration" is missing since this is a fresh install. So since I was unable to use the GUI method to set up Server affinity i tried using the command line method.

appcmd.exe set config -section:webFarms /[name='FARMNAME'].applicationRequestRouting.affinity.useCookie:"True" /commit:apphost

Surprise! It works fine, When looking in the chrome dev console i can see it creating the cookie name. Yet I still receive the same error message when going through the GUI.

Does anybody have an idea as to how I can get the GUI to stop throwing this error so i can use it to configure Server affinity in the future?

some folders are really full with 4 gb of txt of logs and i want to create a standard for everything (rollover,logging fields,format)

any sugestions? microsoft has a best practices for logging?

This is easily reproducible.

1. Install Windows Server 2016.

2. Install IIS through Server Manager, Add Roles and Features.

3. Install Web Platform Installer from the link in IIS Manager.

4. Try to install Logging Tools, Custom Logging or Web Deploy for Hosting Services (and many others).

Note: please don't tell me to install components through Server Manager, Add Roles and Features instead. While this works for some components, not everything is available there, e.g. Web Deploy for Hosting Services. The issue to address is that Web Platform Installer is broken for installing some things.

hope someone can assist me in pin pointing the cause of my slow TTFB (Time To First Byte) which occurs only under certain conditions.

Firstly an explanation of the hardware/software involved.

This is a dedicated server hosted at OVH.

The server has only 40 active domains and is a web/email server.

The server has the following specifications

Intel Xeon D 1520
32 GB ECC 2133 MHz
2 x 480GB SSD (Raid1, Physical devices)

Windows Server 2016 1607
Plesk Onyx Ver 17.5.3 Update #8
PHP Server 5.6.35

The issue is happening only with php database driven websites, website that are static php content are OK.

Websites that are using other technologies i.e. .asp, .aspx, html etc are OK.

I have tried many different things to resolve this but each and every time I think its resolved it isn't

One example was to use the hosts file to denote localhost as 127.0.0.1 to avoid any IPv6 related issue with the resolving of 'localhost'

The example below is a Wordpress website that is using the 'the7' theme, 'WP Super Cache' is installed with default settings, PHP version used for the website is 5.6.30.

The website has its own MySQL database and is stored locally on a raid 1 SSD config.

This issue only seems to occur when the website has not been accessed for an extended period of time.

The extended period of time is unknown as of now but for my testing if the website isnt accessed for lets say 12 hours then the below occurs.

The TTFB on the first run can be in excess of 10 seconds, sometimes even up to 30 seconds, this only happens on the first run and only if the website has not been accessed for the extended period of time indicated above.

So hoping someone can offer some pointers.

We've moved away from Exchange to Google Apps, which meant setting up a new SMTP server for our applications to send email out, and for our MFD devices for scan to email and the like.

We set up 4 Windows Server 20008R2 boxes in our DMZ that sit behind a loadbalancer that has a virtual IP address.  Instead of using DNS to look up recipient mail servers, the servers are configured to use the smart host smtp-relay.gmail.com

We we see intermittently is emails building up in the queue folder on each of the servers that can be delayed by 20 mins or so to 6 hours.  Checking the SMTP logs for an email that was sent at 11pm, that I didn't receive until 7am I see the following:

The smtp conversation seems to be instantaneous and without error, though analyzing the header will show smtp-relay.gmail.com does not receive the email until 8 hours later.

Is there any way to troubleshoot the SMTP server in a more in depth method than just checking the logs? Or is it a case of installing Wireshark and looking at whats actually happening on the wire?

Any help, tips or tricks will be much appreciated

this code works but i don't know why sometimes i receive an error 500 ...

for to test this web service i used  POSTMAN with the ADDRESS and the json.

Sometimes i receive an error 500 after send 10 items in the json string and sometimes i can send 100 records without fails 

Also, on the webserver, i set into IIS a failed request tracing rules, i can reproduce the problem and obtain a xml file with many things inside ...

I have an ARR Farm setup to serve a couple of sites and am having issues when trying to do a health test on the sites through HTTPS. I believe I've exported and imported the certificates identically across both servers, but when I do a health check on the HTTPS versions of the sites, I get this status code of 0 along with the error code 80072EFE. The health test works fine through normal HTTP though. I am on Windows Server 2012.

I've spent many hours trying to install Wordpress on a Microsoft Windows 2012 Server, which is all my employer will make available to me.

When Web Platform Installer WPI 5 reaches the stage where it asks for the MySQL root password, it never accepts it.

I have tried the password the hosting company provided originally and I have also uninstalled and reinstalled MySQL Server a number of times, specifying my own password, which seems to be accepted... but WPI still refuses to install Wordpress.

When I visit Control Panel > Programs and Features I can only see MySQL Server 5.7 installed, which is my latest attempt, but the strange thing is that when I run Web Platform Installer and search for MySQL, it shows that My SQL 5.1 and 5.5 are installed, but doesn't display 5.7 at all.

I have searched all the drives and folders on the server and have deleted all MySQL instances, including data and temporary files, but just can't get it to work (Wordpress to install).

Any ideas at all, as following the guides to resetting the root password manually doesn't work either, the shell and dos prompt windows always returning errors?

I have 2 website in IIS 8.5

Currently I have bound them to ports:

Site A - port 81

Site B - port 82

I can access them externally from the internet using

http://server IP:81/SiteA.aspx

http://server IP:82/SiteB.aspx

Is it possible for me to be able to access both these sites from port 80 externally so I don't have to use the port number?

I have looked at host headers but not quite sure how its supposed to work externally 

SiteA and SiteB dont have DNS lookups they are just asp.net websites that I've created using VStudio that I'm hosting on my VPS

but in both case the player says failed to load.

I think links are broken or something.
