I apologize for the simple question here, but at a bit of a loss with this issue.
This is pretty simple and there's something that I'm not doing correctly or not in the correct way.
In IIS7 if I click on 'browse to testweb on *:80 (http), IE opens up with http://testweb but the web page just says "Internet Explorer cannot display the web page"
I have stopped and rebooted the webserver many times. This is a new VM server (Win 2008 R2).
In II7, I have a website built and it's got the correct bindings for http on port 80 with all IP address allowed (*).
I can, in II7, explore the website with no issue. The iisstart.html and welcome.png exist. The website and II7 is started and running.
Firewall is turned OFF for the time being.
Hosts file has 127.0.0.1 and pointed to localhost
I can ping the server itself, but not port 80.
W3 service and IIS admin service are up and running.
I *can* get to any internet website.
I'm pulling my hair out on this one. Any ideas what may be going on? I've already tried looking at the II7 tips/troubleshooting on iis.net and went through them all, still unable to browse to the website.
Thanks so much in advance,
-Tom
