Live Smooth Streaming source (Encoder) is disconnected from Publishng Point

Hi, all,

I have an Intel Xeon server computer running Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise, with Expression Encoder 4 Pro SP2 installed on the server. The encoder captures an 852x480 window on the server's video output and streams it to a Live Smooth Streaming publishing point, also on the server.

One video stream with bitrate = 408kbps (audio bitrate = 64kbps).

Encoding is VC-1. The CPU runs at 50% or less. (I have also tried using H.264 codec, but it makes the CPU work harder.)

The server is on a tiny testing network, with two other PCs attached, both running Windows 7 Enterprise. Virtually no network traffic.

The server has no other roles, and its only job is to encode this window and send it to the publishing point.

About once a day, the encoder will disconnect from the publishing point and an encoder error message appears that says, "A network error has occurred causing the encode to stop."

In the Event Viewer Application logs  there will be two Warnings generated by IIS Live Smooth Streaming:

Event ID 3014, Source '127.0.0.1' of stream 'Encoder' was unexpectedly disconnected from Publishing Point 'MyStream'

Event ID 3012, Source '127.0.0.1' of stream 'Encoder' was disconnected from Publishing Point 'MyStream'

Both also have an error 0x800703E3, I/O Operation has been aborted because of either a thread exit or an application request.

This system works fine most of the time, except for this near-daily disconnection. Note that the disconnect does not always occur, and it does not happen at the same time or after any particular duration of encoding.

If I click the OK button in the error message on the encoder, I can usually click the Start button and have the encoder reconnect to the publishing point again. I never have any dropped frames, and the Publishing Point is configured properly.

I am looking for any suggestions, fixes, or work-arounds. Let me know if you need any additional information.

Thanks!
