I am very new to IIS (and all things MS), so I apologize if this is a really stupid question.
My company have just announced that we will be changing websites (from www.currentwebsite.co.uk to www.newwebsite.com) and have asked me to make the change. looking IIS, I can see the list of bindings includeswww.newwebsite.com and when I go there the site comes up and looks fine. It seems that the problem is that when I google our company, I only get offeredwww.currentwebsite.co.uk and the marketing people want that to point towww.newwebsite.com. Is there some way to change the default binding, so that search engines pick up the correct one? We want to keep the old one available, so that existing site users don't have to change their bookmarks etc.
I have read a few things about redirecting, but presumably that would mean creating a new website with thewww.newwebsite.com binding and redirecting all traffic from the current site to the new site? Since I am not that familiar with IIS and have never created a website this is a little daunting....
Any help very gratefully received, since I am supposed to be making this change over this weekend!
