IP Canonization, Redirect Violation, and SEO

Hi,

I got the following violation

"The link to "http://decisionmakingwheel.com/index.html" has resulted in HTTP redirection to "http://decisionmakingwheel.com/". Search engines can only pass page rankings and other relevant data through a single redirection hop. Using unnecessary redirects can have a negative impact on page ranking."

I created mod_rewrite redirect in .htaccess to implement IP canonization fro better SEO. So should I remove the redirect or no?
