I have two web sites hosted on same server. sub1.mydomain.com and sub2.mydomain.com We are planning to secure these web sites using SSL. I requested my admin to install certificates on the web server. If I go to IIS and click on server certificates I see there are two certificates my admin has installed. However both certificates are issued to “*.mydomain.com”
Questions:
1> If the certificate is issued to “*.mydomain.com”, can I assign the same certificate to two different web sites (sub1.mydomain.com and sub2.mydomain.com) on the same server?
2> If have two certificates installed on web server that are issued to “*.mydomain.com” ( as i mentioned above), can I assign these two certificate to each of the web site? Because if I try to assign 2nd certificate to sub2.mydomain.com I get error
“At least one other site is using the same HTTPS binding and the binding is configured with a different certificate. Are you sure that you want to reuse this HTTPS binding and reassign the other site or sites to use new certificate?”
