Can't Run Classic ASP Pages Outside of WWWRoot

Hi, 

The title says it all.  I can't run classic asp pages outside of WWWRoot.  I have Windows 7 and IIS 7 installed.  I can access a simple asp page as long as it is in the WWWRoot folder.  If I create a virtual directory or application outside of that folder, the browser never connects to the page. I don't get a time out or error in the logs.  Nothing is logged in the IIS log about a visit to that page.

I compared permissions for my folder to WWWRoot and added IIS_USRS, but that didn't help.

Any suggestions?
