I have tried several times now to download a current copy of my hosted WordPress site (originally published with WebMatrix) to my local PC and have yet to be successful. WebMatrix connects okay to my hosted site and I can see all the files. I follow the instructions to download using the wizard, it completes its process but the files and the database are not downloaded.
This is very frustrating as the main reason I chose WebMatrix was to be able to make changes and upgrades to my local WordPress site and test them out prior to installing them on the hosted production site.
My hosting provider said to zip up the root directory and export the MySQL database and ftp them to my local PC. Not being highly technical, that simple suggestion was not very helpful as I do not know how WebMatrix would then access those files and DB.
Any help with how to accomplish this would be greatly appreciated.
