Using subdomains?

I have a website - myexamplewebsite.com that is currently running with a third party hosting provider on the LAMP architecture. I'm trying to migrate everything to our own in-house servers, and run it on Windows Server 2008 R2 and IIS 7.

The website is supposed to be publicly accessible on the web. It just displays company information, pulls some data from the database to display, and doesn't write anything to the database.

I need to set up a subdomain named - private.myexamplewebsite.com on the same IIS 7 machine, and restrict access to that subdomain only to authenticated users in our domain. Mainly for our employees to connect to the database from the field, and update information to the database. If a regular web user were to type in the domain name private.myexamplewebsite.com or private.myexamplewebsite.com/file1.aspx, he should get a 404 doesn't exist error.

I'm new to IIS and ASP.Net, and do not know how to set this up. I tried looking under each setting available in the IIS 7 installation, and couldn't find anything pertaining to my issue.
So would appreciate some help in configuring this.
