Hi,
We run a win 2008 server with about 15 websites on it. One of the websites did a huge online marketing campaign which apparently drew large amounts of connections / visitors to the site to a point that ALL other websites become so slow, almost unreachable.
Each site is using its own App pool, but nonetheless, the entire server got seriously affected. Once the traffic to that one website ended, everything went back to normal.
I spoke to our hosting cie, and they told us that we had received over 1100 concurrent connections... but I don't feel it's normal for the server to have reacted this way. Is this normal?
Is this a bandwith issue? Had we had more bandwith capabilities, would the server have been able to stand? The hosting cie told me we currently are at 100 mbps. is that good? not enough? They told me they can, for a fee of course, move us to 1GBps, will this solve the problem?
thanks for your help in advance
G.S.
