Hi Everyone
A frustrating afternoon and morning indeed, but I hope someone can help shed some light on this strange oddity. So I have a new wildcard certificate from GoDaddy (*.company.com) followed their installation instructions well. I used the MMC with the cert manager snap in and put in the intermediary certificate just fine, as per their instructions (this is what they are telling people:http://community.godaddy.com/help/article/4801 ).
Now when I go into the IIS manager into the server certificates and perform "Complete Certificate Request" from the original server I generated the wildcard certificate request, and select the response file (which is a CRT file, btw), and I give it a nice friendly name, the certificate appears in the list of certificates. It looks good there. I can click on view and it looks fine. BUT if I refresh that screen (F5) or move away, POOF, the cert dissapears and goes away.
Now if I bring up MMC with the cert manager plugin, I can see my certificate in the personal store for the machine with my friendly name! This is nuts. I haven't the faintest idea of why IIS is refusing to keep that certificate listed in the server certificates window. Of course, since it refuses to do so, I can't select it for binding and so forth.
I'm doing these activities as the domain admin and the MMC cert manager is looking at the certificate store as the computer account.
I can delete the certs in the certificate store again and repeat this activity a dozen times and get the same results (beleve me, I've tried) - but to no avail, IIS continues to refuse to keep that certificate listed in the server certificates window.
Any ideas?
Thanks for any input.
Jovo
