Kernel-Mode Authentication and AppPool account

I'm currently troubleshooting some strange errors in CRM 2011 and I've hit a wall in IIS.  I've found a few posts on potential fixes, but I need to know what I'm doing and how it works before I follow through.  I was wondering if anyone here could help me understand a couple things.

The issue has to do with the CRM service(s) not being able to find a file that is clearly in the location it's looking.  This led me to believe that maybe the problem is authentication/authorization related.  After some Googling and reading, a few people mentioned that it could have to do with the connection between the account running the CRM App Pool and the authentication configuration.

As it stands, my app pool is using the Network Service account and Kernel-Mode Authentication is enabled.  From what I understand, this can cause issues with authorization due to domain access and SPN registration (if I read correctly).  Is this true?

Can someone either elaborate on this or point me to an article explaining IIS security a little more in-depth?  I don't have a boatload of experience with IIS, which is making this a little harder to troubleshoot.  If any more experience is required of me, don't hesitate to ask and I'll see what I can scare up.  Thanks!
