Hello.
I just recently rented a Dedicated Server with Windows 2008 Web Server Edition running as the OS.
I had setup a web site to run on my server through the IIS 7.5, which works fine. To support the PHP files on this website however, I had to install the latest PHP version on my server. After a quick google I found the link "php.iis.net" which installed all the components for me. After the installation, the web site was working perfectly.
But after a few hours, I noticed that the server was using all of its processing powers on 8-or-so threads called "php-cgi.exe" each using about 13% of the CPU, and also that the website was "loading" the php file in a seemingly endless loop.
I downloaded some hotfixes I found and also the Windows Cache Extension and restarted the machine. It seemed to fix the problem with using too many computer resources, but the problem persisted.
After a few tests, I came to the conclusion that the website would load the PHP page correctly the first time and the thread php-cgi.exe would not use more than 1% of the CPU power, however refreshing the page or loading a second PHP file would make the website unusable, and the php-cgi.exe thread would reach a constant 13% of CPU power (which is still a lot for an i7 3770!).
I also noticed that, trying to load several PHP files from the website would create a new cgi-php.exe thread each time, however only the first thread would be at 13% while all the other threads between 0% and 1%.
I have tried to edit different settings I found on the internet, such as editing stuff in the PHP.ini file, but nothing seemed to have any kind of impact. I also tried to install different PHP versions (5.2, 5,3, etc) but none made any difference whatsoever.
My question is of course, how I can fix this error? I have looked everywhere on the internet, but nothing solved my problem.
