Hi all, it’s a 2008 box & I am not able to start World Wide Web publishing service. It’s not to do with missing folder as I could easily locate C:\inetpub\temp\appPools folder. The dependencies are Windows Process Activation service, Remote Procedure Call (RPC) & DCOM Server Process Launcher. Of all the 3 only Process Activation service is not running & when I try to run it, I get;

Event Type:            Error
Event Source:         Service Control Manager
Event Category:      None
Event ID: 7023
Date:                       11/03/2013
Time:                       1:58:23 PM
User:                       N/A
Computer:               server.domain.com
Description:
The Windows Process Activation Service service terminated with the following error:
The request is not supported.
For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

I tried iisreset /restart & w3svc restart but they both failed. I haven't rebooted the box or applied patch described inhttp://support.microsoft.com/kb/975443?wa=wsignin1.0 because I want to be sure that I have covered all steps. It’s a production box so I have to get it fixed without much R&D. Please help?
