Hello,
This is my first post here.
I have a need to run an IIS7 server.
Here are my reasons:
Ever since Microsoft dropped support for publishing calenders to Office.com in Outlook 2013, I have been pretty much royally screwed with sharing my calender. I support 2-3 sales guys at my company and they need constant access to my calender to see my availibility.
My company does not have (nor can afford) an exchange server, and I do not want to go down a 3rd party route like google sync, etc.
I don't want to personally run a PC 24/7 for IIS7, however to overcome this I plan to use a computer at my dad's company. My dad has a PC that runs WinXP Pro (SP3) and I have full access to configure it as well as the router it is connected to. This PC is physically located on Florida (FL).
My personal PC runs Outlook 2013 and my OS is Win7. I will need to publish my calender (via WebDAV) to the WinXP machine in FL.
My sales guys will need to have the ability to access this calender share. Since they will only need to read the calender, I assume they only need READ access. I also assume that I could create just ONE user login for my sales guys since their login access would all be the same. Does this sound right? And I guess I personally will need to have an IIS7 login account with read/write access.
I would like to ask if someone could help me try and get this to work. I have no experince with IIS7/WebDAV, however I know how to configure a router, open ports on the router, as well opening ports within a firewall program. I also have no issues with installing IIS7 onto WinXP, I just need help in configuring it to make it do what I want.
The server PC in FL is configured with a dynamic DNS service, so I can access it without needing to enter in an IP address everytime.
I did try to follow several how-to IIS7 guides that I found online, but was not able to get this to work. I wish someone had a tutorial just for calendar share via IIS7/WebDAV with WinXP being the server.
I was thinking of posting this task to odesk.com and pay someone to dp this, but I figured that I would try this one more time with some help from you folks here...
