I have been using VWD 2010 to develop an ASP.NET web site on a windows IIS6 hosting server. The hosting server (3rd party) was recently upgraded to IIS7 and now VWD says it cannot access the site because Front Page Entension are not installed. When I called the hosting company they said that FPE are not part of IIS anymore from version 7 up. Is this true? I realize I can use FTP, but I was wondering why IIS7 cannot handle publishing from VWD without FPE or why VWD requires FPE to do a standard publish without FTP?
