I am trying to publish my Outlook 2007 calendar using the 'Publish to WebDAV Server' menu option from Outlook. However I can't get past the login request, no matter what user name and password I input the request is refused. I suspect permissions are not quite right in IIS or on the server but don't know what as I have checked everything I can think of.
The server is a local server in the same building, running Server 2003 with IIS 6.0 and WebDAV enabled (Sharepoint Services is also running on this server.)
The client is Vista Business SP2 with Outlook 2007.
Can anybody tell me what user name and password is expected. I have tried the windows domain user login that I am logged in to the Vista PC with, the domain administrator login, the anonymous guest login (IUSR_servername), and a local login I created on the server. However, I don't really understand which it should be.
I have tried every level of authentication with those usernames; I originally wanted anonymous and so couldn't understand why it would be asking me to login. It doesn't seen to matter what authentication is specified, it asks 3 times for a login then gives up.
I followed Daniel Petri's article "Prepare IIS on Windows XP/2003 for Sharing Calendars using Internet Publishing" and have read every other article I can find on the internet but most refer to IIS 7 and the office online service; I cannot find anything that relates to IIS 6 with a local server.
I should be grateful if someone could specify in simple terms what type of login should be used (ie. domain user, local, guest) and where permissions need to be set for IIS & NTFS as this has been puzzling me now for 3 days. Also I can't find any logs; does logging have to be turned on somewhere in IIS ?.
