Basic Authentication not present in Roles and Features IIS8

In Windows Server 2012, IIS8, I am trying to establish a protected directory for one of my websites. In order to do this, I understand that I need the "basic authentication" feature for this site.

This feature does not show up in the authentication IIS page for this website, or any other website I have built. (it does for an FTP site) The only two options are anonymous authentication and ASP.NET authentication, both of which I assume do not provide a protected (username/password) directory.

When I utilize the add roles or features wizard, there is not basic authentication option. I am stumped.

Thanks in advance for help or advice.
