IIS is on my C: along with MySQL and is using inetpub\www for my site site from the C:.  i need IIS to pull the files from My D: Bitrix\ folder

I have two websites in II7 on port 80 (I use bindings), when I access, for example, with GoogleChrome/ Firefox www.MySite.com  shows good site, but if I use IE 9 does not show the site, just close the window.
Another question is ...
With Chrome shows the site on the PC where the site is mounted, but if I try to access from a remote PC www.Mysitio.com not find the page.
What am I doing wrong?? Help please.

I'm trying to migrate my web server from IIS 7.5 (on Server 2008 R2) to IIS 8.0 (on Server 2012) using the Microsoft Web Deploy extension thing. When exporting it makes the zip and that seems to work fine, but when I try to import it I get this error:

ERROR_FRAMEWORK_VERSIONS_DO_NOT_MATCH.

The specific text is:

The versions of the .NET Framework Configuration Provider (machineConfig64) are different on the source (2.0) and destination (4.0).

Both servers have .NET 4.0 and .NET 2.0 installed and showing up in IIS. None of my app pools use 2.0 and all sites/applications are using the same 4.0 app pool.

Looking at the deploy package contents, there are four properties that are coming out with a value of 2.0:

• .NET 32-bit root Web configuration
• .NET 32-bit machine configuration
• .NET 64-bit root Web configuration
• .NET 64-bit machine configuration

I vaguely understand what these represent but I can't work out where to change them to 4.0 instead of 2.0. I'm not even certain if this is causing the issue, but it seems like it is.

I tried disabling the "Framework Mismatch" rule during the import but the same error still occurs.

I would appreciate any suggestions for ways to resolve this. Or maybe there is an easy way to move my site without Web Deploy? It's nothing complicated, just some forum installs. I don't even use ASP.NET at all, everything is PHP.

We are performing a server upgrade from Server 2008 SP2 32bit to Server 2008 R2 SP1 64bit and in the process we need to migrate all websites and retain all the configurations in IIS for all websites.

We are reviewing two different options for migrating all websites and need to verify which IIS migration path would work best. 

Option 1) Use WebDeploy to export websites to *.zip files from IIS 7 and import into IIS 7.5. Note: the msdeploy command indicates that the EXACT same version of .Net Framework needs to be installed on the destination server and our destination server will not allow us to install .net 3.0 because it is Server 2008 R2 SP1 with .net 3.5.  (Is there a possible work around for this scenario)?

Option 2) Migrate websites using the Shared Configuration Export?

We need to ensure all SSL certificates, bindings, etc... are all retained.

Hi, I've downloaded and attempted to install Web Platform Installer multiple times. I'm running Windows 7 SP1 as an administator.  When I choose "Check online for a solution and close the program", a little green bar goes across the screen, then nothing appears, and no windows or new tabs open.

Hi,

whilst trying to install "ASP.NET and Web Tools 2012.2" the installer advises me of an updated WPI installer version 4.5

Clicking "I Accept" clears the dialog and the installer churns for a few seconds and then reproposes the update advice again.

This goes on until I "Decline" and the installer launches but doesn't find the product that I'm trying to install (which is presumably in the 4.5 version)

When I open WPI, it tells me that there is a new version available and gives me the option to download or decline. If I choose "I Decline" WPI4 opens as normal, but if click "I Accept" to download the new version, it begins the installation process, but after a few seconds it rollsback with a message "Failed to install Web Platform Installer. Click OK to use the browser to download installer." But when i download the file, it too, fails to install. I begin the installation (of WPI4.5), but it soon rollsback with a message "Microsoft Web Platform Installer 4.5 Setup Wizard ended prematurely." Please help me get WPI upgraded to 4.5 

I looked for the installation log file at %temp%\webpi_launcher.txt, but that file doesn't exist

I was wondering if anyone has seen or posted blog posts regarding creating a Crawler to index DOC and PDF files with the MS IIS SEO toolkit?

I was fairly disappointed when I found out these files were not being indexed(and I am looking for broken links). Has anyone pulled this off and documented it? The files to be indexed are being served via SP 2010.

I'm testing web application. When I'm runnging web services setup file on w2k3 and IIS 6 it takes about a minute. But when I,m running the same setup on w2k8 and IIS 7.5 inetinfo.exe eats up to 100% CPU and installation takes about an hour. I believe that's not code issue but some IIS configuration. Am I right?

Just upgraded to Windows Server 2012 / IIS 8.   I cannot see how to generate the Certificate Signing Request (CSR) that is necessary to obtain the certificate from GoDaddy.  Seems like this feature was removed.  What do I do?

Not sure if this is a Sharepoint issue or an IIS issue, but hopefully you can point me in the right direction if this forum is incorrect.

I've installed SharePoint 2010 on a Windows Server 2008 R2 system. It appears Sharepoint has taken over the default website port 80. I'm finding a lot of issues online, but not fully understanding or seeing a step-by-step work around to this.

I want to be able to use the default website for non-Sharepoint Internal sites. It appears that the port can be changed, but not sure how to do this. If anyone can point me to a 'how to' doc, that would be very helpful.

I've right-clicked the Default Website, and then clicked Bindings, and changed the port number from 80 to 4444 ... and then restarted IIS... but still no connection... what am I missing... ?

I am facing IIS reset/crash problem in my server.

I am using IIS6 on Windows Server 2003.

I have investigated IIS log files and found that "Connection_Dropped" sometimes, and "Connection_Abandoned_By_AppPool" sometimes.

In some log files i found "/phpMyAdmin/scripts/setup.php 400".

If any one help me what this indicates for?

I am trying to setup directory browsing and having no luck at all. I get a 500 error.

Through the UI for the site I have enabled Directory Browsing and deleted the default.asp which was in the directory because I no longer need it. The web.config file has the following line:

<directoryBrowse enabled="true" showFlags="Time, Size, Extension" />

"Network Service" and IUSR have read/execute permissions on the folder and I disabled the "Default Document" feature. The folder is located on a USB drive. If I put in a reference to a direct file, it's not even working now  and the content view isn't even updating properly! It's still showing files I deleted! Extremely frustrating, I miss IIS6...

I have configured and setup my url rewrite and ARR with no issue.  The primary server is hosting the main website, I have a second web server hostng a blog site.  Users on teh inside of my firewall have no issues navigating to either pages in a few seconds.... everything works great.

The primary web server has been hosting our site for some time and responds well on the internet.  We are now testing going to the blog on the secndary server from the internet and it is slow (about 2 minutes to to load the blog landing page) and I can actually see the private IP address of the blog server as it is trying to load.  the primary site works fine.  I am curious if anyone know what Firewall Rules or Nat rules must be in place to get it to work faster, assuming that is what my problem is.  I have a call in to the FW vendor, and thought I would give this site a try as well.

I am trying to uninstall WebPI v4.0 from my computer.  When I running msiexec with full logging, the log includes the following:

At the very outset I would like to state that this is my first ASP classic page that I have created which since the first deployment on IIS is giving me server 500 error. I have searched the entire web and have done almost everything possible to get this right, but all in vain.

I have created a classic ASP page using Web Matrix. This is a web based dashboard which connects to MSSQL server and fetch necessary information. I have a similar app in php which is working perfect, but I wanted to learn ASP hence was trying to make a similar web app on ASP. This app works absolutely fine onf Web Matrix. When I run this app from within web matrix (both on chrome as well as IE) it connects to the required database and I can browse the details as expected. The problem starts when I host this on IIS (localhost on my windows 7 pc). This is the exact procedure that I have followed :

1) Created a new Site on IIS named "YCube" 2) Using basic settings I have given the following Physical path for the app (D:\YVXS\Personal\ASP\SSTool\Ycube) {the project output folder} 3) In the bindings page I have assigned port 81 4)IIS authentication is set to "Anonymous Auth" 5) Application pool for asp is set to classic (as IIS first stated it cannot perform the task in integrated mode) 

After this when I tried browsing localhost:81/menu.asp, it given me server 500 error. The 21 days research starts now (bullet points below)

1) To get the descreptive errors on the web page I did following but the error description did not change IIS->asp->Compliation->send error to browser =true, friendly http error on IE = disabled

2) IIS log files, not sure if iam not able to understand the error but  am getting follwing on the log file (C:\inetpub\logs\LogFiles\W3SVC1

3) On the IIS forum only I underatood at time global.asa file can cause this problem, I deleted this file and tried, all in vain

5) On the error pages in IIS, i have changed the "Edit feature settins" to "Detailed error", this also didnot give me any futher error desc.

6) 24 times i have uninstalled IIS and installed back, nothing has happend

7) Someone suggested to created a dummy asp file and try hosting the same of IIS, so I used a small code ("[

</HTML>"], this is giving correct output (This page was last refreshed at 18:88:22....), however with my original asp page I still get server 500 error

8) A friend of mine suggested to delete all other hosted web pages from IIS and try (I had one PHP on the IIS), hence I deleted the same and tried, no changes at all

9) Event log file is showing nothing pertaining the ASP (only few files are there which tells about unexpected shutdown of my PC)

10) I created a second ASP file which had MS access at the backed, this only is also giving me same server 500 error

11) Other things that I have tried is changing the web.config file to send detailed error, (thouh i forgot the exact line) but that also did not help me

Here are my system config and other details Windows 7 professional, IIS7.5.7600, MSSQLR2express. Also please note that I have tried hosting this on two othe pc's that I have(both windows 7) and in office server 2003, but all are giving me same server 500 error.

Never thought learning a classic asp will put me into all this Jazz...please help..

How can I solve this issue?

I tried to compile a dll should be able to connect through proxy with credentials, but with no success... 

Here is the configuration from webPlatformInstaller.exe.config file:

Server is behind proxy server, IE browser is able to download product list feed directly after I enter credentials.

WebFarmService.exe service continuasly increases until it eventually stops causing the web site not to work. Now for example is at 1.4Gb of RAM allocation on the server. The server is 2008R2.

The only solution I have found is to restart the service, which I think is not very efficient,

Any ideas what causes this? How can I fix this issue?

After browsing the net the only solution I've found was one that stated to log off after RDPing the servers. This does not work.

I have configured my server to have web deploy backups turned on and enabled.

I am running

msdeploy.exe -verb:sync -source:package="config-management.zip",encryptPassword="password" -dest:auto,encryptPassword="password",computerName="localhost" -setParamFile:"parameters.xml"

This runs successfully (it deploys the files) but it reports the following

Info: Creating backup of existing site.
Warning: BACKUP_FAILED - Skipping backup because it failed due to an unknown reason. For more information, contact your server administrator.

The event viewer contains:

Error: The property 'password' located at '/appPoolConfig[@appPool=AppPoolName']/add[@name='AppPoolName']/processModel' is marked as secure. You must specify an encryption password to archive this property.
Error count: 1.

And no backup is made. I am supplying the correct encryption password in the sync command. Any ideas whats wrong please?
